Our charming residence on Avenue B is situated within walking distance to Floyd Medical Center and less than a mile from downtown Rome.  This house turned 100 years old in 2018 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  It is fully-furnished and equipped to house 7 students comfortably.

Ask about reduced fee or free meals when working within either hospital system. Floyd Medical Center and Redmond Regional Medical Center allow medical, NP and PA students to eat in the doctors’ dining rooms. Wear your white coat, school ID and hospital ID badge when provided. If you chose to eat in the public dining rooms, you will pay the public fees for your food. Information about these benefits will usually be given to you on the first rotation day. Please ask your preceptor so that you are following hospital etiquette.

Floyd Medical Center (FMC)—All students with a Floyd Medical Center badge may exercise at FMC’s rehab gym free of charge. This facility is located at 304 Shorter Avenue in the lower level of the Urgent Care building. Park in the back – third row down – and go in the lower level. This center has weight equipment, stationery bikes, and treadmills. The hours for students and employees are 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. All rehab center employees and equipment must be kept available for patients during normal business hours. Take your Floyd Medical Center badge and sign in as a student visitor.

The Vitality Center is an affiliate of the Harbin Clinic and is housed in the back lower level of the Southeastern Cardiovascular Institute. This building is the large structure located at 504 Redmond Road across from Redmond Regional Medical Center. The hours are 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Friday; Saturday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; and closed on Sunday. Always bring your student ID badge.

If you are with a Harbin Clinic preceptor, you may go to the Vitality Center free of charge. You must first call Erin Ware at (706) 290-2334 to have an assessment and sign a waiver. The assessment includes a fitness and flexibility test. If you are over 40 years old, you must also take and pay for a stress test. If you are not with a Harbin physician there is a $40 fee (the student rate). You must still call Erin for an assessment and/or stress test and sign a waiver.

This center has the latest Cybex equipment, treadmills, recumbent bikes, elliptical trainers, and spin, aerobic, kick boxing and yoga classes. All center employees are exercise physiologists or certified instructors who are available to you when not attending to patients.
