What is HOSA?

nurse studentHealth Occupations Students of America (HOSA)  is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Occupations Education Division of the ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health occupations instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HOE-HOSA Partnership.

In 2000, Blue Ridge AHEC with the Georgia Department of Education has been instrumental in the establishment of making HOSA a reality in Georgia. Since then,  Blue Ridge AHEC has coordinated the Fall Leadership Academy and Spring Leadership and Competitive Events Conference for three (3) years as well as helping Georgia students and teachers register for the National Conferences.

Our Center Director, Sharon Norman, served on the initial Board of Directors and then served as Executive Director until a Director could be hired. The entire Blue Ridge AHEC Team provided support for all efforts for Georgia HOSA to be successful.

Presently, Allen Siegler serves as Executive Director. To learn more about Georgia HOSA, please visit their website: http://georgiahosa.org
