HEALTH CAREERS EDUCATION & EXPLORATION
Sharon Norman-Center Director
The first step in the pipeline is to “grow our own” health care professionals. This includes:
- visiting K-12 schools, colleges, organizations, and health care facilities in our 20-county Northwest Georgia area to educate students, parents, teachers, counselors, and community leaders on health careers and other opportunities that Blue Ridge AHEC offers
- organizing and conducting summer Health Careers Camps; working collaboratively with groups and agencies to provide special programs and activities on health careers
- participating on committees to work with communities on Health Fairs
- assisting with coordination of exploring/shadowing health careers as available
- serving on the Evaluation Team in the secondary Healthcare Science Technology Education (HSTE) Program Industry Certification Process
- working with communities to identify other innovative ways to share information about health careers
- serving on various college, regional, and state advisory committees
