Teachers Exploring and Advocating Careers in Health

ELIGIBILITY
Middle and High school professionals involved in career counseling, including Guidance Counselors, science and math teachers, Health Occupations/Healthcare Science Technology Education (HSTE) teachers and school nurses in the Blue Ridge Area Health Education Center’s (AHEC) 20-county region are eligible to participate.
ACADEMY ACTIVITIES
- Hands-on health care experience
- Shadow on-site with local practicing health care professionals to learn what is involved in specific health careers
- Learn to use, and take back, AHEC and nationally-developed support
- Obtain materials providing fun activities to utilize in your classes. Work in groups, developing a network team, to share ideas, experiences, and materials to apply to your classroom curriculum
- Explore topics related to the shortage of health care professionals in Georgia
PLU CREDIT
The Academy will be conducted over a 3-day period consisting of 20 contact hours. State approved bodies will be petitioned to provide Professional Learning Units (PLUs) to each participant who successfully complete the Academy. For more information please contact:
