Why Program Industry Certification?
- Healthcare continues to be one of the nation’s fastest-growing and competitive industries.
- Secondary schools bear a responsibility to train students who are skilled and academically prepared, to complete a post-secondary health career program.
- One assessment that is generally accepted across various disciplines to insure that an educational program is standardized in Georgia is Secondary Program Industry Certification.
- Guided and Approved by the Georgia Department of Education for secondary HSTE programs.
The Process

- Attend Workshop on the Certification Process through Georgia Vocational Staff Development Consortium (GVSDC) go to www.gvsdc.org to check next workshop and register.
- Organize a Program Standards Documentation/Filing System
- Complete the Self-Study Process
- Select at least six On-Site Evaluation Local Team Members
- Schedule date for Blue Ridge AHEC-led On-Site Evaluation Visit (please contact Sharon Norman at 706.235-0776, ext 201 or

- Submit Application to Blue Ridge AHEC for on-site Evaluation Visit
- On-Site Evaluation Visit Conducted; Award presented at Luncheon in July
Levels of Designation
A successful Program can receive one of two designations: “Distinguished Secondary Healthcare Science Technology Education Program” or “Distinguished Secondary Healthcare Science Technology Education Program with Industry Specialization”.
