Community Programs

Community Health Advisor Training Program

Blue Ridge AHEC partners with the Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition to provide the Community Health Advisor Training Program to empower neighborhoods and communities to organize culturally appropriate and sound methods of cancer education, outreach and referral, as well as, mobilizing social support for healthy lifestyles, prevention/screening and referrals.  Each phase provides three days of education and the content as listed below. BRAHEC will also continue to support the online CHA program and the network of educators this program has created over the past 4 years. 

Program Content:  1 hour each in the following content areas

Breast Cancer License Tag Screening Fund

Blue Ridge AHEC and the Georgia Cancer Coalition partner to provide a fund for helping women ages 39-50 access needed clinical breast exams and mammograms.  The program provides services for women who are not eligible for other assistance programs in the area.  The program also provides a training program for community health advisors in order to create an effective referral system.
